Student Dismissal

Thanks to you and many others, the Grove City Band has a rich history. Just in the past year, the Concert Band again received the top Superior rating at the OMEA State Competition for the 44th year in a row. This fall the Marching Band won Grand Champion at each competition where it was awarded.

Another part of the history is acknowledging outstanding members upon graduation. The George Edge Scholarship Fund was created when I retired in 2014. Each year a deserving senior that is going to pursue a music degree at the collegiate level is recognized for his or her accomplishments. This spring the total amount awarded will reach $5,000 ($1,000 per year) since the scholarship was created. In order to continue to recognize a deserving graduate each year, we need to continue to raise money for the Scholarship Fund.

On Wednesday, January 30, we will be holding a fundraiser at City Barbeque, 2261 Stringtown Road in Grove City. On that day, City Barbeque will be donating 25% of the amount you spend to the Scholarship Fund. Enclosed is the flyer you must bring with you for us to receive the funds from your meal. You can come by anytime during the day or evening to support this event. I am going to be there in the evening and hope to see you.

If you can’t attend that evening, we would still like your support. I have also enclosed a donation card and envelope. Your gift of any amount will be greatly appreciated! Please complete the card, make your check payable to the George Edge Scholarship Fund and mail it to us via the envelope. Remember one of the famous Woody Hayes quotes ….”You can never pay back. You can only pay forward!” Let’s work together to continue helping the great students of this outstanding band program!

Thank you again for your past support and for your serious consideration of our request. Again, we hope to see you on Wednesday, January 30.
