This year’s marching band consists of 235 outstanding members which consists of 173 brass and woodwind players, 33 percussionists, 26 color guard, and 3 field commanders. This year’s band is under the direction of field commanders Jacob Stuckert, Bailey Clanin, and Hannah Congrove.
This year’s show is entitled “Reflections.” The show opens with the well-known largo theme from Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony before soaring into Ryan Nowlin’s Fanfare for the Centennial. The second number is entitled On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss and depicts man’s reflection on faith and perseverance in times of struggle. The third number captures the feelings of joy one experiences in times of excitement and new adventure; the band will be playing Farandole from Georges Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite. The show comes to a close with the 4th segment and the return of music form the New World Symphony. Based on the 4th movement, this part of the show reflects on man’s triumph over adversity and builds into a restatement of the opening largo theme.
