This year's marching band consists of around 240 outstanding members which consists of 175 brass and woodwind players, 34 percussionists, 27 color guard, and 3 field commanders. This year's band is under the direction of field commanders Hannah Congrove, Jacob Stuckert and Eric Sun.
The show opens with a "mash-up" of two musical works, Noisy Wheels of Joy and 'Children’s Dance' from Howard Hanson’s Merry Mount Suite, which depicts the youthful energy and excitement of childhood. The second number is based on Amazing Grace and focuses on the idea of community and the power of togetherness. The third movement captures the feelings of pure joy and the excitement of life; the band will be playing Russlan and Ludmilla Overture by Mikhail Glinka which will showcase the technical abilities of our students. The show comes to a close with the powerful restatement from where it all began using music composed by James Barnes entitled, Symphonic Overture. This part of the show reflects on the joy and anticipation of what will come next in life…a journey that is constantly changing for each one of us throughout the years.
