Levy RestaurantsThe Grove City Band Boosters have many opportunities for you to support your children in the band. One of those is working concessions for venues run by Levy Restaurants. We currently have several venues where we work. Our largest and most popular is the Lower.com Field where the Columbus Crew SC plays and Mapfre Stadium where other events happen. Our second location is at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.  By working events, you benefit your students and the band as a whole. You must be a member of the band boosters to work Levy events.

See our Fundraising Calendar for Game Dates

Mapfre StadiumPlease Note: Announcements of games that are posted to SignupGenius (see below) go out to the Booster E-mail Group. If you want equal opportunity to work an event, makes sure you sign up to the Booster E-mail Group List.

What's it like?

Working concessions for games is great fun but hard work. We won't sugarcoat it. The great benefits is that you're supporting your child (or children) and you get to work with other parents who are all wonderful. In addition to that, you get to interact with people who are coming to see great sports events. Many have children who have wonder in their eyes at being in such a big stadium.  Not to mention, working concerts is great people-watching fun!

Typically, your shift will be 5-6 hours long with little opportunity to sit down. Wear comfortable shoes! While working, you are given the opportunity to eat through special "gratis" items. You cannot have everything you like, and it is not "all-you-can-eat" but you will not starve while working a game. If you are so inclined, you can be trained to lead a stand or "run money" which will provide you with leadership opportunities to make decisions on when food is cooked and prepared, and final authority on alcohol purchases and other big decisions.

Below is a list of general information, as well as specific information for each venue that we work.

General Info

General Information

  • Working Levy Events requires each volunteer to be at least 18 years of age*.
  • All Levy volunteers must complete alcohol training before working any event (See Alcohol Training).
  • The band receives a minimum, per person, commission for work but overall commission is based on sales. If the percentage commission on sales exceeds the minimum per person, then we receive the commission amount. So, it is in our best interest to sell, sell, sell!
  • Levy sends the commission check to the Band Boosters about 25 days after the event worked.
  • There is a required uniform when working events. Please see below for specific information per venue.
  • We use SignUpGenius for tracking who is working each event, below is a link to instructions on how to use SignUpGenius.
  • Do not sign up unless you commit to working. This is very important. We understand when there is a last-minute emergency, however, many people sign up because spots fill up fast and they don't want to miss the opportunity but they don't check their schedules and they cannot work. Many times this means our committee chairmen have to beg and plead for others to work and puts a lot of extra pressure on them and can lead to being fined by Levy for having "no-shows".  In addition to this, Levy charges a $20-40 fee for each person who does not show up.
  • If you cannot work an event you have signed up for, remove yourself from SignUpGenius and notify the committee chair below right away, they need to contact booster members to fill spots.

*There are a select few student positions that require you to be 16 years old.

Alcohol Training

You can find our your status by asking the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Levy requires that everyone be alcohol trained before they work their first event. Download these instructions for completing alcohol training.

 Mapfre Stadium (Historic Crew Stadium)

The following information is influx due to the changes with the new Lower.com Field.

  • Mapfre stadium is where the Columbus Crew SC used to play and is now, as we understand it, the location for concerts and the annual Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in May and the Breakaway Festival in September. Other events may happen there as well.
  • Our stand is number 220 located on the upper concourse on the southwest side of the stadium by the big screen. We have the largest and most profitable stand in the stadium.
  • Dress Code: Black pants or shorts, closed-toe shoes (no sandals), Band Shirt (Polo or T-Shirt, any shirt branded GCHS Band). Black shoes preferred but not necessary.
  • Parking: You must have a parking pass to work each event. Typically, the Levy Chairperson has the passes just before events and they can be picked up at their house. There are not enough passes for the number of people working so carpooling is required for most workers. See the chairperson contact information below.
  • Directions: Mapfre stadium is located at One Black & Gold Blvd, Columbus, OH 43211. Typically, you take I-71 North and get off at the 17th Street Exit and follow the signs. Enter at the Gravel Lot Gate 1 (northeast side of stadium), Sign in with Levy personnel. Proceed to upper level stand 220 near the Ohio Health restrooms (Southwest corner).
  • Jobs at this stand
    • Lead - Trained position, makes all decisions for running the stand.
    • Co-Lead/Money - Trained position, handles all counting of money and distribution of cash
    • Cook - 3 positions, cook all food and cut/box pizzas as they come out of the oven.
    • Cashier - 10-11 positions, Work a register, take money, card guests/serve alcohol
    • Runner (Sonic Temple Only) - 4-6 positions, Listen to customers as they order and retrieve items for cashier. Also re-stocking items.

Schottenstein Center & Ohio Stadium (2022-23 TBD)

  • The Schottenstein center is where Men's Basketball & Hockey, and Women's Basketball is played among other things like concerts. We primarily work those three types of events and concerts.  There are many opportunities to work.
  • We may also have the opportunity to work games or events at Ohio Stadium.
  • Dress Code: Black pants (no shorts), closed-toe shoes (no sandals, black shoes preferred), Levy issued OSU Hat & Shirt. This hat & shirt is a one-time fee of $28. You can pay for it outright or have it pulled from your earnings. For some this is too steep, but with the number of events that happen here and at the Ohio Stadium, it more than pays for itself.
  • Parking (Schott): You will be given a parking pass for the entire season to keep with you and put in your dashboard. Do not lose the pass. Pay attention to the individual sign-up for these events, parking will change based on the event.  Many times they do not provide enough parking passes so if you are not a regular worker, you will need to turn your pass back in so it can be given to someone else.
  • Parking (Shoe): Parking is normally at the Schottenstein center and you walk over.
  • Directions: There is one of two parking lots available for workers. Take 315 North to Lane Avenue, then Left on Fred Taylor Drive. One lot is near Bill Davis stadium (right on Borror and left into the lot), the second is the Buckeye Lot (continue north on Fred Taylor and it is on the left).
  • Jobs (May vary from event to event)
    • Lead/Money - Trained position, handle decisions for the stand and all money
    • Cashier - Work a register, take money, card guests/serve alcohol
    • It is helpful if one of the cashiers can count money to allow for us to leave earlier.
    • We also often have a point person who manages orders called back to the cooks who prepare some of the food. This person is a cashier but also helps with that job.
